What we collect

When you use our contact form, we receive what you type: your name, email, phone number and message. When you apply to work with us, we receive the details on the application, such as your contact information, where you live, your availability and your experience with animals.

Like most websites, we and our service providers also receive technical information when you visit: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and the site or ad that sent you here. Some of this is collected with cookies, described below. We never collect card numbers on this website.

Client accounts, booking and payments

Registration, scheduling and invoicing happen in our client portal at capitalpetsitters.petssl.com, provided by Precise Petcare. Card payments are processed through that portal by its payment processor. We never see or store your full card number. Information you enter there is also covered by Precise Petcare's own privacy policy.

How we use it

To reply to you, to arrange and deliver pet care, to consider your application, to keep the site secure, and to understand which pages and ads are useful. We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't share it with anyone for their own marketing.

Who helps us run the site

Cloudflare hosts the site and runs a bot check on our forms. An email delivery service forwards form submissions to our office. Google Analytics measures site traffic. Google Ads and Meta (Facebook and Instagram) measure and show our advertising. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of people, pets or property.

Cookies and advertising

Google and Meta may set cookies on this site so we can tell whether an ad led to an inquiry, and so our ads can reach people who have visited before. You can adjust Google ad personalization at adssettings.google.com, install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, and manage ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram settings. You can also block cookies in your browser; the site still works.

Keys and home access

Keys are coded, never labeled with your name or address, and are returned or destroyed when service ends.

How long we keep it

Only as long as we need it for the reason you sent it, for our records, or as the law requires.

Your choices

You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the information we hold about you, or to stop using it for marketing. Email us and we'll respond within 45 days. Virginia residents may have additional rights under the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act where it applies.

Children

This site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date above.
